Ben Allen

CEO

Ben is known for his expertise in leading hardware, software, and agtech companies and for maintaining strong relationships with investors. He has a record of rapidly generating revenue, scaling startup companies for growth, and negotiating strategic partnership deals with Fortune 100 companies.

Ben is an executive leader passionate about recruiting, coaching, and retaining top talent to excel in rapidly evolving business and economic environments. He is recognized for building engaged teams who continuously exceed the expectations of investors and customers and achieve personal and professional success.

Ben joined BinSentry after his successful run as Head of Global Market Development at Indigo Ag, an agtech startup that he helped grow from $300M in 2017 to $3B in 2021. Prior to that role, Ben led efforts to scale Agri-Trend’s Agri-Data software organization in preparation for a transaction. Due to his efforts, Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) acquired Agri-Trend in 2015.

At a young age, Ben developed a passion for the agriculture industry while working in the family commodity trading business. In the challenging months following 9/11, Ben raised more than $1M in venture funding to create a contract farming offering that grew to manage over 80,000 acres in the Midwest, becoming one of the largest grain-producing operations in the United States.

Nathan Hoel

Co-founder & Chief Technology Officer

Drawing on his specialized skill set in overseeing infrastructure and strategic planning and his practical experience in modeling and scaling systems, Nathan is passionate about the complexity involved in software architecture. With more than two decades of experience leading engineering teams and large-scale architectural projects, Nathan firmly believes that leadership is achieved by influence and respect.

As a CTO with a varied experience in the agricultural, financial, retail, and education industries, Nathan brings a wide range of expertise that he leverages to equip BinSentry clients with the necessary tools to make better decisions. With a singular focus on excellence and a rigorous approach to creative problem-solving, he led his team to build the most accurate feed bin monitoring sensor in the market, the BinSentry 3D sensor.

Nathan received his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science in Mathematics from Waterloo University. His passion for developing innovative solutions led BinSentry to win the 2019 THRIVE-Forbes Innovation Icon Award.

Kearney Klein

VP of Operations

As the VP of Operations, Kearney is in charge of BinSentry’s global supply chain, ensuring product quality and overseeing planning, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, and product fulfillment functions.

He brings deep experience in strategy, operations, and technology to drive operational excellence both at the company and at the customers’ organizations we serve with a high-quality, innovative product.

Prior to his role at BinSentry, Kearney held executive positions at Indigo Ag, Air Products and was also a Principal at Marakon Consulting for the agriculture sector.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston and a master’s degree in Finance from Vanderbilt University in Nashville. He lives in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts, with his wife and three children, and enjoys equities markets, fishing and golf.

Vaughan Stewart

VP of Sales & Customer Success

While Vaughan hails from a longstanding ag background from a family farm in Mississippi, she began her career in the distribution industry, first servicing hardware store owner-operators throughout the United States and Canada. She turned to agtech in 2017 and, since then, has been focused on bringing innovative solutions to the agriculture supply chain, with an unwavering goal of increasing farmer profitability through improved efficiency and beneficial practices.

At BinSentry, Vaughan ensures that customers derive the value they need and helps them scale their business. She believes in long-term and meaningful relationships and strives to see customers succeed.

Vaughan currently resides in Memphis, Tennessee, where she serves on several local boards and regularly engages in public speaking engagements on behalf of the agtech industry. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Mississippi Honors College and a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Memphis.

Dennis Organ

Recognized for his expertise in the supply chain industry, Dennis is a proven executive that has led all functions of a $17B multi-national P&L, collaborating with board of directors and senior executives. Over his extensive career, he has demonstrated success in developing and executing plans in complex, global, regulated organizations, building, recruiting, and leading talented teams that thrivingly deliver on the objectives.

After heading up the global operations of the world’s largest pork processor, Smithfield Foods Inc., as Chief Executive Officer and leaning on his thorough understanding of the agricultural supply chain, Dennis joined BinSentry’s mission as Chairman of the Board in 2021. He’s also the President of the Pork Complex at Maple Leaf Foods Inc., a world-class operation and provider of quality fresh pork in North America and internationally.

Dennis is most passionate about mentoring people as they develop their career paths and skills. He has participated in and developed many programs, including the diversity council, leadership development, path to supervisor, and the career foundations programs, among many others. He has also been an active contributor and participant in the CDL training and scholarships, and apprenticeship programs.

Larry Page

Member of the Board of Directors

As a Managing Director at Lewis & Clark AgriFood, Larry is responsible for all facets of fund management, including raising funds, leading investments, and corporate governance via board membership.

Larry joined Lewis & Clark in 2016 after working at PierianDx, a start-up specializing in clinical bioinformatics, where he managed several facets of the business, including on the laboratory and sales teams. He was also an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the Nidus Partnership and served as Chief Technology Officer of Terra Biologics, a start-up working to commercialize cyanobacteria-based biofertilizers. Leaning on his impressive background and knowledge of multiple spaces, from science and technology to commercialization, Larry became an invaluable member of BinSentry’s Board of Directors in 2020.

Larry received his PhD in Biochemistry from Washington University in St. Louis, where his thesis focused on the basic mechanics of photosynthetic light harvesting. He conducted undergraduate research on plant molecular biology at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry.

Chuck Warta

Chuck’s 30+ years of international experience in agriculture, animal nutrition, and food leadership brings tremendous value to BinSentry’s Board of Directors. He has spent three decades leading businesses at Cargill, most recently as the President of Cargill Health Technologies. Today, he is also an Operating Partner at Lewis & Clark AgriFood.

Chuck’s past experiences include serving as President of Cargill Animal Nutrition’s premix & nutrition business globally where he was responsible for serving customers in more than 100 markets, leading more than 7,000 employees and 50 facilities across 26 countries. He completed multiple international assignments, including as the Business Unit Leader of Cargill Meats Thailand, a fully integrated poultry operation with 13,000 employees serving food customers in 27 countries.

Throughout his career, Chuck held leadership oversight for many key Cargill Animal Nutrition growth markets, such as the United States, China, Thailand, Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

Chuck was directly involved in over a dozen M+A transactions, led multiple minority investments, and served on the investment board of Cargill’s Venture Capital team.

Beyond Cargill, Chuck served on the board of directors and executive committee with International Feed Industry Federation (IFIF), currently serves on the board of Heifer International and on the Board of the Kansas State University Foundation, where he is also an Associated Faculty in the Staley School of Leadership Studies.

Edmund O’Keeffe

Edmund’s 25 years of experience in management and board roles in the food and beverage sector in both North America and Europe, gives him a level of expertise that lends a unique approach to his mandate as a member of BinSentry’s board of directors.

Edmund is not only the Chairman of O’Keeffe’s Group, an Irish retailer with pet, furniture, and wine stores, but he also actively serves on the board for Bay State Milling, a leading North American flour milling and specialty grain company, and the board of Sweetmore Bakeries, a private equity backed US bakery focused on the instore bakery channel.

Edmund served in various roles from 1994 to 2019 for Cott Corporation, the world’s largest producer of beverages, on behalf of retailers, brand owners, and distributors. Joining Cott Corporation in its early growth phase, he progressed into positions in product management, strategy, corporate development, investor relations, communications, and strategic planning. Most recently, he was President of Cott Beverages LLC, responsible for an $80M revenue and a 130-employee business unit that provided global R&D, product development, technical services, concentrates, and sales to 67 countries.

Edmund graduated from University College Dublin with a Bachelor of Commerce and earned his MBA from Harvard Business School. He was a former Research Associate for Professor Ray Goldberg at Harvard Business School and is currently a member of Harvard University’s Private and Public, Scientific, Academic, and Consumer (PAPSAC) Food Policy Group.

Jonathan Goodkey

Jonathan Goodkey is a Principal with the Industrial Innovation Venture Fund at BDC Capital. He is an agri-food tech investment professional with deep domain expertise in the “farm-to-fork” value chain. His addition to BinSentry’s Board of Directors in 2020 has brought invaluable insights and a well-rounded and hands-on approach to BinSentry’s growth.

Before joining BDC Capital in 2019, Jonathan was a Principal with Avrio Capital. In this capacity, he served on the board and as chair of the audit committee for Sol Cuisine and was a board observer for several other companies in his portfolio. He was also a senior associate with MNP LLP, the largest full-service chartered professional accountancy and business advisory firm in Canada, where he delivered tax planning and other accounting services.

Jonathan is a CFA Charterholder and a designated Chartered Accountant.
